Meet Tom Bourdon, Tufts LGBT Center Director

This past fall, we welcomed Tom Bourdon as the new Director of the Tufts LGBT Center. POTH members will have the opportunity to meet him at the POTH Alumni Weekend Reception, which will be held on Saturday, May 16, 4 to 6 p.m., at the Tufts LGBT Center.

Tom came to Tufts in September 2008 after serving as Assistant Director of UCLA’s LGBT Center and Program Administrator of New York University’s (NYU) LGBT Office. Originally from Haverhill, MA, Tom received a B.S. in Business Management from Babson College and an M.Ed. in Counseling in Student Affairs from UCLA. He also holds a certificate in Personal Life Coaching from NYU.

Tom oversees the Center, as well as all student groups, discussion groups, and events/activities associated with the Center. He also advises individual students, offers presentations and workshops on LGBT issues, advocates on behalf of gender/sexuality issues, and works on a variety of initiatives related to diversity, social justice, student life and leadership.

Tom also serves as Co-Chair of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrator’s (NASPA) GLBT Issues Institute, and frequently presents around the country on LGBT services and development. He enjoys writing professionally and for fun, and is currently working with Dr. Ronni Sanlo on an inspirational career-focused book geared towards LGBT youth and college-age students.
